Prasantha writes on Chandana and their journey in cinema
 

‘And the Bright one flew out of the Window’- Kawulu Dorin Nikmagiya Cinema Vidwatha, a book written about veteran journalist and film critic the late Chandana Silva was launched at the Library Service Auditorium, Torrington square. Written by Prasantha Paranawidana, a friend and close associate of Chandana for the past three and a half decades, the book contains many interesting incidents with regard to the film Industry, where both of them were involved.

In the mid seventies Chandana and Prasantha made many experimental short films and also published film magazines. There are also many interesting articles and reviews written by Chandana on the films screened during the past thirty five years and they are both in Sinhala and English languages.

Incidentally Prasantha was the Producer and Director of photography in Chandana's first Sinhala feature film, "Kawuludora", which is yet to be released. The book launch was held under the patronage of veteran filmmaker and award winning scriptwriter Dr. Tissa Abeyekera and among the others who delivered speeches were Lal Hangoda, Ashley Ratnawibushana, Gamini Weragama and Prasanna Vithanage.

The second edition of the book "Sasala Roo Nisala Woo" written by veteran film journalist Rupasena Silva, consisting of Prasantha's experiences in the local film industry was also launched at the ceremony. This book contained about forty rare photographs of films such as "Malata Noena Bambaru" "Viragaya", "Golumuhude Kunatuwa" and "Kawuludora" and of leading film artistes which were photographed during his career, spanning over 35 years.
