Good double by Pathirana

A fine all round performance by Trinity skipper Sachith Pathirana (78 and 5 wickets) failed to bring his team victory over Vidyartha in their match at the Asgiriya Stadium.

Pathirana first rolled over the Vidyartha batsmen and then made an aggressive 78 (2 sixes, 7 fours). Wijeratne batted well in both innings for the visitors.Vidyartha – 69 in 38 overs (U.N. Wijeratne 34; S. Pathirana 5 for 38, A. Bulunawewa 2 for 8) and 70 for 4 in 38.4 overs (U. Wijeratne 24,D.L. Senanayake 19; R. Bandara 2 for 3, S. Wickrema 2 for 17).

Trinity – 5 for no loss overnight) – 119 for 6 dec. in 25 overs (S. Pathirana 78, A. Bulunawewa 18)

St. Sylvester’s in command

St. Sylvester’s were in command at the end of the first day’s play in their match against St. Anthony’s at the Kandy Police Grounds.

Chanaka Ranaweera and Ravi Karunaratne combined to bowl out the visitors for 158. SDubramaniam, Dissanayake and Samarakoon got starts but failed to go on.

Skipper Wickremaarachchi made 39 in the Sylvestrian reply while danger man Ravi Karunaratne was 32 not out.
