Prof. Sudantha Liyanage appointed to the ACU council
View(s):University of Sri Jayewardenepura Vice Chancellor Sudantha Liyanage has been appointed to the council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).
He will be representing Constituency II (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) for a period of three years August 1 2022, onwards.
The ACU was established in 1913 and has more than 500 member institutions in more than 50 countries across the Commonwealth.
Its mission is to promote and support excellence in higher education for the benefit of individuals and societies throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.
Drawing on collective experience and expertise, the ACU seeks to address issues in international higher education through a range of projects, networks and events, an official from the university said.
The ACU administers scholarships, provides academic research and leadership on issues in the sector, promotes inter-university cooperation and the sharing of good practice, helping universities serve their communities.
