Impressive progress in challenging times

Since its opening in 2019, UTS College
Sri Lanka has continued to thrive even in very challenging times. So, when His Excellency David Holly, Australia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka – who was present at the launch – recently paid a visit to the campus, there was much to celebrate. His campus tour was an opportunity to witness the college’s impressive progress and speak with staff and lecturers. Mr Holly was accompanied by Mr Kanishka Padidilian, Business Development Manager and Director, Education, Australian Trade and Investment Commission. UTS College also welcomed its first visitors from Australia since the borders closed for nearly two years – Mr Peter Harris, Chief Officer Partnerships and Growth, and Mr Vinh Tran, Business Programs Manager and Transnational Education Quality Manager.

Opportunity to begin a world-class Australian degree

In his address, Mr Holly congratulated UTS College Sri Lanka on another successful year. “Students here can come to the campus in central Colombo to begin their pathway to a world-class Australian degree,” he said. “And with that, the ability to move forward in whatever career they want to pursue. I wish UTS College all the very best as they continue on the wonderful partnership here in Sri Lanka.”

As the pathway to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia’s number one young university, UTS College offers leading academic English programmes, UTS Foundation Studies, and higher education diplomas designed with UTS entry in mind. Every year, over 90 percent of the College’s diploma graduates achieve the marks they need to enter a UTS undergraduate degree. These impressive results are achieved through a combination of ongoing academic support, small class sizes, and practical learning. Students are encouraged to achieve their full potential as they gain skills that will equip them to succeed at UTS and beyond.

The Sri Lanka campus provides the same features as UTS College in Sydney, offering students the benefits of a world-class university from the beginning of their study pathway. These include well-appointed teaching spaces, state-of-the-art engineering and computer labs, communal student learning spaces designed for effective collaboration and group work, first rate library facilities, and more. The teaching model focuses on life-long learning skills, enabling students to adapt to challenges and opportunities not just for today, but well into their careers.

First rate facilities and programmes

During his visit to the campus, Mr Peter Harris commented, “UTS has an amazing history of transnational education, with over 30-years of delivering their programs throughout the region. We’re particularly proud of this college in Colombo. It’s our first and only wholly owned campus, and the standard of the facilities and the quality of the programmes and student outcomes are first rate. The benefit of the student-centric teaching is shown in the graduates to date – the success they’ve had here and as they go on to study at UTS. Coming here is a fantastic first step for a student wishing to follow their dreams.”

Students who have completed their A-levels are eligible to apply for the Diploma of Engineering, Diploma of Business, or Diploma of Information Technology. Pending results are often sufficient for enrolment. Similarly, students who have successfully completed O-levels are able to enrol in the UTS Foundation Studies Programme.

Advantages for students registering before 30th June

Enrolments are now open and there are advantages for students who register before 30th June. Early-birds are entitled to a guaranteed 15 percent scholarship and 50 percent registration fee waiver. UTS College Sri Lanka also offers academic merit scholarships for high achievers in A-level and O-level exams, up to 100 percent. These scholarships are limited, with successful candidates selected through an interview process.
