Three more botanical gardens are to be established as a part of the year long celebrations to mark the bicentennial of the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.

Three notice boards in all three languages were unveiled in the gardens recently by Tourism Ministry Secretary S. Hettiarachchi.

The name boards were sponsored by Lions Club of Pilimathalawa.

Peradeniya Botanical Gardens Director General S. A. J. Krishnaraja said there will be activities through out the year to mark the bicentennial.

The Peradeniya Botanical Gardens was established in the year 1822, by Alexander Moon, and was then known as the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The photograph shows Mr. Hettiarachchi, Dr. Krishnaraja and Lions Club members in front of one of the
new name boards.
