Viktoria Veleva of Bulgaria clinched the Girls Singles

The curtains of the J5 ITF Junior Circuit Week 1 Tennis Tournament conducted by the ITF, came down yesterday with Girls and Boys Singles being worked off at the SLTA courts in Greenpath, Colombo.

Viktoria Veleva of Bulgaria and Christian Care of Australia emerged champions in the two categories with top seeded Veleva coasting to a comfortable 2-0 win over second seeded Ji Hyun Kang of South Korea. Fourth seeded Care was to work hard for his win before pulling off victory by 2-1 by second seeded Hayden Khoo Menon of Malaysia.

Sri Lanka too tasted success when unseeded doubles pair Chathurya Nilaweera and Kiran Vairavanathan emerged champions. They defeated the third seeded pair of Aldiyar Abzham of Kazakhastan and Hayden Khoo Menon of Malaysia by 2-1.

The J5 Junior Circuit Week 2 Tournament is scheduled get underway at the same venue on January 24 and will end on January 30.
