The beginning

Teaching kids with the same activities and hands-on exercises that spurred its creation, Footsteps preschool & day-care is celebrating its second anniversary.

Crafting a mandate for quality education, the preschool is formulating core values that encourage kids to inlay the foundation in social conscience and becoming active and responsible citizens. Teachers, children, and parents are at the heart of everything Footsteps do and are dedicated to serving everyone with positive learning experiences, whether online or offline. Having started with just 6 kids, the preschool now has over 100 on the roll with a mix of 70% from Sri Lanka and the rest on virtual platforms from diverse locations globally.

Scaling a balance to screen time, the preschool is steadfast in expanding to other geographies. The response to teaching methods and content are overwhelming with plans to reach greater pinnacles.

During the pandemic, prudently planned learning activities and a range of assessments ensured that each child actively participated in guided inquiry and discovery.

An individualised learning programme is created and shared with parents through student learning to distance and online education. The swift adoption of technology permitted kids to engage with content in new and creative behaviors.

Online tools have helped kids with snags learn at their own pace along with strengthened cognitive skills, such as problem-solving and critical thinking, applying real-time events, games, and interactive lessons. Moreover, these programmes don’t rely on pre-printed books or material that can quickly become obsolete.

Every child has the right to shine. Dedicating this milestone to all Parents.

The joint directress Ms. Fazra Irfan narrated, “The preschool dynamically encourages parents to engage with their child’s learning and we have introduced a parental engagement strategy.

As always, our parents have been valued advocates, unremittingly partaking in an active role during these challenging times.

Research proves that the distinct largest motive of a child’s productivity at school is the backing of parents who take a sincere, active, and unswerving interest in their education at home as well as giving rise to the equivalent of two to three years of supplementary education over their period of kindergarten”.

“Communication is at the core of positive parental engagement. It’s not simply about sitting with your kids and assisting them with their homework. Every parent, irrespective of their culture, language or experience, must communicate and express interest in their learning through questions, listening and encouraging with praise and direction, thus reinforcing standards to become an active partner in the educational process”.

The feedback and feed-forward by parents are heartwarming and uplifting. To discover a preschool where a child can be themselves to the wonder of a community banding together across the globe is a testament to our ethos”.

We have and we continue to evolve

The preschool unequivocally empathises with the strain parents have encountered following the pandemic. As a responsible institute, the administration has constantly considered means to safeguard children’s education regardless of the mode of study or fees.

Joint directress Ms. Razana Muzni conveyed, “Remote learning is not a substitute, it is a supplement. We continue to adapt in enhancing and differentiating our education offering to better serve our communities. The pandemic took the world by shock, and at Footsteps, we were quick to activate relief efforts by assisting parents who were financially impacted, with discounts in fees and easy payment schemes”.

Highlighting the distance learning methods, close attention was paid to training and supporting new and experienced teachers.

Accomplishments during the year

Given the credentials, the preschool was granted affiliation to the ‘The Early Years Alliance’, which is the largest and most representative early year’s membership organisation in England.

A registered educational body represents 14,000 members and supports delivering care and learning to over 800,000 families every year.

Coinciding with the anniversary, the preschool has embarked on a new venture- Footsteps cart, providing educational toys to children.

The use of educational toys can help learn many different skills they will need in their life.

Our range includes toys that help develop problem-solving skills, patience, sharing, facilitates their fine and gross motor skills, and nurtures their creativity and imagination.

As we always say… For Footsteps Preschool, the best is yet to come
