The Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals 2020, organised and conducted by Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) commenced yesterday at Green Path with the first round matches. The Tennis Nationals 2020 is conducted under strict health guidelines, and according to the SLTA official website, only one parent is permitted to enter the venue with the player when the match is on.

Sharmal Dissanayake enters the tournament as the top ranked player in the Men’s Singles, while Anika Seneviratne will defend her title as the top ranked in the Women’s Singles. Men’s Singles will be battled by 50 players while 22 are lined up in the Women’s Singles with a total of 435 players set to compete under four age categories besides the top two segments. The Grade 1 tournament which began yesterday with first round matches and will end on January 24.
