The National Institute of Education (NIE), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, has introduced an innovative  approach to teacher training in the Korean Language.

Under this new initiative , the National Institute of Education’s Classical Languages and Foreign Languages Unit and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, recently launched an “Online Capacity Building Programme for teachers of Korean Language in Sri Lanka.”

The Embassy had agreed to extend their fullest support in designing curriculum material and providing human and physical resources to develop Korean Language Education in Sri Lanka.

This new venture had paved the way for many Sri Lankan Korean Language teachers to follow online courses offered by professional organisations conducted by native Korean teachers from across the globe.

This programmed was launched after  Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawarathne assumed duties as the new Director General at the National Institute of Education.

The inauguration ceremony of this new venture was held last week at the Institute, under the auspices of Mr. Jeong Woonjin, the Korean Ambassador.
