No sports practices in schools due to COVID situation
View(s):The Education Ministry has requested all schools to refrain from sports training and practices due to the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
In a notice issued to all schools recently, the Ministry said the gazette notification of 2013 will be re-imposed disallowing under-13 students taking part in contact sports. The Ministry said the gazette notification will be re-issued in two weeks.
Meanwhile the Ministry had also asked all schools to focus only on academic activities instead, due to the backlog of academic activities accumulated during the lockdown period.
Accordingly, this year’s National School Athletic Meet, which was to be conducted by the Ministry, was cancelled. - CC
