Anti-narcotic campaign to be launched in national and provincial schools

The Education Ministry said an anti-narcotic campaign will soon be launched in schools. As a part of this campaign national and provincial schools will need to carry out anti-narcotic programmes every month.

School principals have been advised to take steps to stop drugs being smuggled into schools. They have also been asked to help detect drugs smuggled into schools, and are expected to coordinate with the respective police stations, as a part of the campaign. The ministry has also asked these schools to conduct their own programmes to investigate those involved with smuggling drugs.

“The main objective is to find the main people involved in trafficking drugs,” a senior ministry official said.

The principals will need to submit monthly reports on the school programmes conducted.
