M.U. Chanaka Perera, the Sri Lanka Amateur Golf champion 2019, proved his class firing a scintillating six under par final round playing alongside the co-leaders after Round 3.

Whilst Chanaka fired salvo after salvo compiling 7 Birdies on the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th, 14th, 17th 18th, with an Eagle thrown in for good measure on the 10th the co-leaders fell apart and eventually Chanaka Perera strode to a magnificent victory by an astonishing 12 strokes clear of the field.

Chanaka Perera appears to have turned the corner from Amateur Champ to the Professional scoring track completing the four rounds of the LECTRA GRAND PRIX 2019, five under par.

Chanaka’s six under par 65 was despite dropping three bogeys on the 11th, 12th and 15th holes which enhances his prospects of scoring even better to have being 9 under in nine holes.

Chanaka Perera received a special training in Singapore after winning the Sri Lanka Amateur Championship earlier this year and the meticulous training program conducted by the Sri Lanka Golf Union in association with the Ministry of Sports and the assistance rendered by the NOC seems to have borne fruit, with the fitness, mental strength and all else falling in to place.

The competition among the National Players is healthy and several aspects of practice, gym training, nutrition supplement and other requirements are monitored closely by the Secretary SLGU and his team at Sri Lanka Golf.

A special appreciation to Apparel Technologies by the Bobbin Group of Companies for their Sponsorship of LECTRA Grand-Prix monthly which provides the platform for the National pool players to keep in focus and sharpen their game.

The Sri Lanka Men’s and Women’s Teams for the SAG Golf Championship continue training and our scheduled to take-wing shortly to Nepal.
