World  Restart a Heart  Day was  celebrated  for the first time in Sri Lanka on the 16th of October ’19  to  educate  the  public  on how to resuscitate a person if the heart stops. This  was  Organized  by  the  College  of  Anaesthesiologists  and Intensivists of  Sri  Lanka  in  collaboration  with  many organizations including St  John  Ambulance  Association  and  Brigade  in  Sri  Lanka.

St John Ambulance volunteers from respective districts participated in the events held in Colombo , Jaffna , Galle  and  Batticaloa by providing first aid trainers to train the public on CPR.

St  John  cadets representing all  these  districts  learnt CPR at the events and over  100  of  them  participated at the Colombo National event held at the Viharamahadevi Park. Sri Lanka St John Ambulance’s participation to restart a Heart Day program was led by Director-Training Dr.Kauahila Thilakasiri. International St. John and most of its priories are celebrating this event globally each year as it is in keeping with its global mission to “help save lives”.
