Hindu schools to close on Monday (28) for Deepawali- MoE

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has decided to close all Hindu schools on Monday (28) for Deepawali festival.

An MoE press release said that Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has directed that all Hindu students and teachers in schools across the country, be given a holiday on Monday (28), on account of the Deepawali festival falling on Sunday (27).

However, Muslims schools will not close.

Principals of the Tamil schools that close for the festival, have been directed to arrange another day to cover the academic activities missed on Monday (28). - CC
