Sampath Bank, Hayleys win on D/L

Rain and bad light brought the three 27th Singer-MCA Premier League 50 Over Tournament matches at the MCA, P. Sara Oval and SSC yesterday to a premature end to be decided on D/L method.
At the MCA, Jeevan Mendis with a swashbuckling 122 and Sameen Kandanarachchi (75) laid the foundation for Sampath Bank to amass a massive 334 for the loss of eight wickets against SLC Under-19 team. They shared 107 runs for the fifth wicket.
Samapath Bank was given a solid start by Sadeera Samarawickrema and L. Udara putting on 47 runs for the first wicket.
Apart from Mendis and Kandanarachchi, Hasantha Fernando (38) and Romesh Buddika (33) were the other contributors. Amshi de Silva (3 for 66), Chamindu Wijesinghe (2 for 49) and Chamindu Wickremasinghe (2 for 52) were the most successful bowlers.
Sri Lanka Under 19 cricketers started on the wrong foot as Dushmantha Chameera did the damage by claiming two early wickets in quick succession. A fighting third wicket partnership of 95 runs by Thaveesha Abishek (57) and Sonal Dinusha (40) failed to match the asking rate and the young Lankans lost three more wickets when rain brought the game to a halt with SLC Under-19 at 126 for 6.
At the SSC grounds Hayleys were awarded a 19-run win on D/L over Dimo. At the P. Sara Oval in reply to MAS Holdings-Unichels’s total of 229 (48), LB Finance were 68 for 4 in 15 overs when rain drove the players into the pavilion.
