CCC School of Cricket celebrates 21st Anniversary

The premier cricket coaching school, in the Island, CCC School of Cricket, founded by legendry veteran cricket coach Nelson Mendis in 1998, with only six boys, today enjoys the presence of over 300 students and 10 qualified coaches. The School celebrated its 21st Anniversary with the Inter-House Cricket Tournament, spread over two days, held on their home grounds at Maitland Place.

Jayawardena House, won the Overall Championship honours beating Bradman House into second place, while Sobers House and Tendulkar House were placed third and fourth respectively. The honoured Chief Guest to grace the occasion was Erandajith Ranasinghe, Executive Director of George Steuart Health, the main sponsor of the event.

Nelson Mendis, the Director of Coaching, CCC School of Cricket speaking at the event, thanked the parents of the school, who had always stood by the school supporting the students and coaches in all its activities, and said that the school’s success is mainly due to their support. He also thanked the Executive Committee led by Chief Executive Officer, Harsha Peiris fot the splendid job done in organizing the event successfully.

Two former Sri Lanka legends, Thilakaratne Dilshan, a former captain, and Ajantha Mendis, the mystery spinner, were present during the tournament mixing with the young cricketers and obliging them with ‘selfies’ and autographs to add colour to the event.
