Chrisslogix grants Singles Scull boat as St. Peter’s re-launch rowing

With the intention of reviving rowing in its institution St. Peter’s College Colombo launched their rowing squad at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre in Rajagiriya, initiating with four boats into the fleet. St. Peter’s, believed to be the first school to take up rowing, did not focus on the water sport for many years, or perhaps decades, and the school authorities have focused in reviving the sport, where the potential of reaching the national level is high.
Simultaneously to the re-launch of rowing at St. Peter’s, Chrisslogix donated a Singles Racing Scull boat as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project. The Directors of Chrisslogix — Sithira Wickramasekara, Christo Perera and Suraj Suraweera personally visited the launch event to officially handover the boat to St. Peter’s College officials at Diyawanna.
The Rector of St. Peter’s College, Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo and Fr. Samantha Fernandopulle, the Master-in-Charge of rowing, were present at the launch event. St. Peter’s school authorities mentioned that they are looking forward to a very good start to rowing with the initiative and that the Peterite crew should become a strong entity in school rowing in the near future. In addition Chrisslogix has also donated another Singles Racing Scull boat to St. Joseph’s College, the traditional rivals of St. Peter’s as the two institutions make plans to launch a Joe-Pete Regatta beginning from this season.
