Tokyo International University Awards Scholarships to Study in Japan in English medium

Tokyo International University (TIU) in Japan offers attractive scholarships for Sri Lankan students to study undergraduate programmes in English medium in Japan.

Programmes are offered under three fields of study, namely: Business Economics, International Relations and Digital Business and Innovation. Within each area of study there are a number of specializations to choose from.

For students undertaking these programmes there are attractive scholarships of up to 100% being offered for the duration of programme, subject to maintaining minimum set standards.

Further to being fortunate to receive a free or subsidized education in a highly developed country like Japan, these students are eligible to work 28 hours per week part time during term and 40 hours per week during holidays.

Cost of living in Japan is very affordable. In addition to receiving fee waivers from the university, most students will be eligible for grants from Japanese government to cover living expenses up to one year.

The visa procedure is not complicated. If the students wish to remain in Japan on completion of their studies to work, there are ample opportunities.

In 2019, thirteen very fortunate Sri Lankan students received scholarships from TIU and, they are also eligible for a government grant from the Japanese government.

At TIU there are 6500 students and 1000 international students from 60 different countries. Courses and the environment at TIU is designed to nurture truly international minded professionals capable of working anywhere in the world. In the 1st year students will be focusing on Liberal Arts, Academic Literacy and Japanese Language. Learning the language is important to manage day to day affairs and be able to get part time employment while being a student in Japan. The major courses begin in the 2nd year. Gaining a sound knowledge in Japanese and undertaking Japanese studies courses included in the curriculum will facilitate the student study subject matter in a Japanese context.

As such opportunity to study and improve the language is available throughout the four year of the program although only 16 credits in the language are required for graduation. Students get internships and the opportunity to work on real life projects with leading companies. Such hands on training increases the students employment prospects. The university has study abroad options with partner universities in countries like the USA.

TIU is located in very close proximity to Tokyo, which is one of the safest megalopolis in the world. Japan as a whole is a very safe country and it is also a very clean country. Living in Tokyo is very easy and it also has the world’s largest city economy and population.

All students who have successfully completed AL can apply for a scholarship in TIU for 2020.
