A 5-year ban from public exams will be imposed on those attempting to smuggle in high tech equipment into the examination hall or, involved in cheating at the exam, at the forthcoming GCE A/L. Commissioner General of Examinations, Sanath Pujitha said that, “However, a lifetime ban will be imposed if a serious offence such as seeking examination staff assistance, is committed.

“We have requested the assistance of the Police and the armed forces to identify smuggling of high tech equipment into the examinations halls among other precautions also taken for the smooth conduct of the exams,” he said..

For the A/L exam, 337,704 have registered, while the examination will be conducted at 2,678 centres. (DW)
