MMI celebrated the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast
View(s):At MMI, we have always viewed cultural celebrations as an opportunity to help and guide Montessori students to view the world with an open mind. In celebrating these special cultural events we hope to teach our children about the different customs and cultures of Sri Lanka to help teach children to see everyone in the community as equal citizens.
The children of MMI celebrated the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast (Eid-ul-Fitr) during the holy month of Ramadan. It was a festive event and the Children spent the day by singing songs, sharing of traditional sweetmeats and learning about the significance of this special cultural celebration that teaches them the importance of being generous, kind and compassionate towards one another.
The children happily celebrated this special day with their Muslim brothers and sisters as one community and the colorful decorations of the school made it all the more memorable.
