Veerakesari Journalist Sivam passes away
View(s):Kalabhushana award winning journalist K.P.Sivam of the Veerakesari, passed away after a brief illness He counts over 50 years in journalism in the Central Province, mainly working for the Veerakesari paper.
A Tamil medium journalist who worked tirelessly towards the upliftment of the community, he devoted his life towards journalism leaving his father’s lucrative business. He edited the now defunct Tamil monthly journal for the Tamil estate community. He held the post of the first treasurer of the National Union of Journalists (Sri Lanka ) His funeral takes place today, Sunday at 1 p.m.at the Mahaiyawa cemetery, Kandy.
