  • Vaas replaces Gunawardane as Emerging team coach  

Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas, who was serving as Sri Lanka Under-19 Bowling Coach, was appointed as the Head Coach of Sri Lanka Emerging Team for the forthcoming tour of South Africa.

  • Sri Lanka ‘A’ to tour India from May 25

Sri Lanka ‘A’ will begin their tour to India from May 25. World Cup discards Niroshan Dickwella and Akila Dananjeya will feature in the team. The tour will take place until June 15.

  • Pakistan reschedules Under-19

tour to Sri Lanka  

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finally decided to send their junior cricket team for a tour in Sri Lanka. Earlier the tour was postponed after the island was rocked by a series of terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday. According to the new schedule Pakistan will play five Youth One Day Internationals, which will commence from May 26 to June 5. All matches will be played in Hambantota.

Athletics

  • Sri Lanka to send 7 athletes for

Thailand Open  

A team of seven athletes will fly to Thailand to participate in the Thailand Open Track and Field Championship that will be held from May 18 to 21. The Sri Lanka team includes: Lakmal Gunaratne (Men’s 400m), Ishara Sandaruwan (Men’s Pole Vault), Roshan Dammika (Men’s 110m Hurdles), Asanka Ratnasena (Men’s 400m Hurdles), Shyama Dulakshi (Women’s 400m Hurdles), Sarangi Silva (Women’s Long Jump), Lakshika Sugandi (Women’s Heptathlon)

Swimming

  • 12 Sri Lankans for World School Championships  

Sri Lanka will send a team of 12 swimmers for the 12th World Schools Swimming Championship 2019, scheduled to commence on May 18 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
