Akeel Inham shines with twin tons
Akeel Inham shone with twin tons in Kalutara TC’s comfortable first innings win over table leaders Bloomfield in the Premier Tier B inter-club cricket encounter concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.
Akeel who made a career best knock of 165 in Kalutara TC’s first innings followed it up with another fine knock of 103. Bloomfield in reply to Kalutara TC’s massive score of 406 for 9 declared resuming from their overnight score of 186 for 8 were bowled out for 208. Right arm spinner Pasindu Madushan did the damage claiming a five wicket haul.
Kurunegala YCC too recorded an easy first innings win over fancied Galle CC in the match ended at Kurunegala. Kurunegala YCC after making a score of 343 runs restricted their opponents to a score of 290. In their second innings Kurunegala YCC were restricted to 197, leaving 251 runs for a possible victory for Galle CC. However Galle CC narrowly escaped a outright defeat, after managing 192-9 at close of play.
In the other two matches played at Police Park and Welisara, ended in close first innings wins for Panadura SC and Lankan CC against Police SC and Navy SC.
