Centre half Tharindi Purijjala powered Sri Sangamitta Girls National School (B.M.S.) Matale to wrap up the girls title at the Sri Lanka Schools Girls Under-20 Hockey Championship 2019 with a 1-0 win over fancied St. Anthony’s Girls School Katugastota in the final. The match was played at Rajarata University ground in Mihintale.

On the way to the finals Sri Sangamitta Girls beat Janadhipathi Balika Nawala 1-0 and St. Anthony’s Girls outplayed Holy Family Convent, Wennappuwa 4-2 on penalties in the respective semi-finals.

Holy Family Convent had the consolation of wining the third place by defeating Janadhipathi Balika 1-0.
Best Player: Tharindi Purijjala (Sri Sangamitta Girls NS Matale)
Best Goalkeeper: Hansani Ellawala (St. Anthony’s Girls Katugastota)
The four day tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association attracted 16 teams across the island.
