Sri Rahula in easy 7 wicket win
Sri Rahula Vidyalaya, Katugastota rode on the shoulders of their pair of bowlersDilshan Arambagedara and Akash Gardiyawasam, to record a comfortable 7-wicket win against Sri Sumangala College, Kandy in their annual Limited Overs Big Match cricket encounter played at Pallekele yesterday.
The Sri Sumangala skipper’s decision to bat first, after winning the toss, proved to a costly one after the game ended in a low scoring battle, with Arambagedara snatching five scalps, conceding just seven runs. Eventually, with the help of Gardiyawasam, who claimed 3 for 25, Sri Rahula managed to curtail Sri Sumangala for a paltry total of 86 within the 35th over.
Sri Rahula, chasing a simple target, were made to toil for runs by the Sri Sumangala bowlers, as they batted for nearly 34 overs and lost three wickets to reach the victory post. Madushan Paranavithana remained unbeaten on 30 for the winners.
