Sachin, Anusha and Sheron capture Omega Trophy in style
View(s):The exclusive Omega Trophy, sponsored by Chatham Luxury Watches, teed-off in grand style, two shot-gun starts, 139 players, morning and afternoon play in the three Member Team Scramble, stroke-play format at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Course, yesterday.
A rare format where the 3 member team, formed among the members, Tee-off together and a special formula provides a combined handicap to the team (aggregate divided by six) and the Scramble format provides each player to play from the best spot, giving the super luxury of three chances to get the best score.
An exciting experience, an opportunity for teamwork, stunning Gross scores were returned with the team comprising Sachin De Silva, Anusha Senadhira and Sheron Fernando shooting an amazing 58 Gross, 13 under par to capture the OMEGA Trophy with an unbeatable Scramble Nett score of 54.5.
The team comprising Rusi captain, S. Vairavanathan and Dr. Manjula Karunaratne secured the Runner-up prize with a Gross 60 and net 55.5 losing out by just one stroke.
The trio of Kamlesh Johnpillai, Kapila Dandeniya and Thusith Wijesinghe were not too far away in 3rd place with a nett score of 56.7
The winning team captured the Omega Trophy and with it a “Luxurious package’” of a fully sponsored OMEGA Golf Tour’ to Switzerland, presented by the generous sponsors, Chatham Luxury Watches.
There was also a Hole-in-One prize offered but there were no ‘takers’ of the ‘One’ time offer from Chatham Watches!
After the event, there was a fun event where all players were given three chances to putt or chip in to an Omega Box placed on an elevated chair, after much excitement only Druvi Sirisena, whose team finished in 4th place, managed to land the ball in to the Box and won a special prize.
The unique, 3 Member (Ladies and Men mixed) Scramble format event was followed by a classic Awards Ceremony, fun and comradeship, worthy of a luxuriously celebrated Golfing tournament, courtesy of Chatham Luxury Watches, member of the Hirdramani Group of Companies.
