Kandy made a comeback to win big by demolishing the Navy at Nittawela yesterday 63-31. Kandy’s points came off eight goals and a penalty try. Navy scored through three goals and two tries.

Kandy had been holding back for some time now. But yesterday they must have decided to fine tune their attack in preparation for next Saturday’s CH game.

Full back Thilina Wijesinghe dished out a dominating performance by touching down four times and also accounting for all the conversions. It could be said that, at times, he ran the Navy ragged. Most of the tries were touched down under the posts.

Lavanga Perera, Heshan Kalhara, Danushka Ranjan and Jason Dissanayake were among the other scorers.

Winger Buddhima Piyaratne was responsible for Navy’s first try. Thilina Weerasinghe put over. Fly half Mohammed Absal scored probably the try of the match with a splendid fifty yard solo effort. Weerasinghe did the honours this time, too.

Absal hadn’t quite finished. He was responsible for the next try too. Richie Dharmapala’s try was put over by Chatura Seneviratne. The latter also scored the last try for the sailors.

Referee Roshan Fernando
