The College of Chemical Sciences (CCS) informs all students sitting the Advanced level examination this year that they have a unique non-conventional opportunity to read for a a BSc(Chemistry) Honours degree level equivalent qualification by enrolling to follow a four year Graduateship Programme offered by the professional body of Chartered Chemists in Sri Lanka and become fully qualified high level professional Graduate Chemists before the end of 2022.This programme, which is the only Chemistry programme to be internationally accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry,UK in Sri Lanka. can be followed either at weekends or on three weekdays provided applicants have to obtain three A/L science subject passes including Chemistry. Provided satisfactory progress is made from year to year, all applicants have the unique opportunity to attain this goal without competition from fellow students. Such an opportunity is not available in any other tertiary level institution in Sri Lanka.

Professor (Mrs) Sujatha Hewage, the Honrary Rector, CCS of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC)states in a media release that by enrolling immediately, prospective students of CCS could follow the programme without any delay and qualify as Graduate Chemists before the end of 2022 within a time scale that is impossible to obtain in any other institution offering a similar programme in Chemistry.Students also have the unique opportunity to be lectured by a wide array of experts in their relevant fields and also offers a series of elective courses in applied fields in the last 2 years of the programme. The programme which has progressed with the highest possible academic standards coupled to much quality enhancement over a nearly four decade period from 1978 has produced 1403 Graduate Chemists. A large number of these products have obtained high level employment and/or post-graduate degrees including doctorates from some of the best universities globally including Sri Lanka, USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway,Singapore,Australia and New Zealand.
