Hit song ‘Despacito’ earns seven Guinness World Records

The reggeton/ Latin pop hit song ‘Despacito’ by Luis Fonsi has been certified seven Guinness World Records. The 40 year old Puerto Rican artist thanked his fans on October 17 on winning the seven titles. He thanked Daddy Yankee who collaborated on the song and Justine Bieber who helped write and add the English vocals to make ‘Despacito’ the worldwide hit. The original Spanish version was released in January 2017 while the remix version with Bieber’s vocals came out in April 2017. The seven titles won by ‘Despacito’ are: Most viewed music video online, Most liked video online, Most viewed music video on YouTube (duet), Most streamed track worldwide, First YouTube video to receive 5 billion views and Most viewed video online.

Celebrity rap star Cardi B has set aside controversy when she stepped out to comfort needy children in New York. Cardi B handed coats and shoes to children in need at Marlboro Houses in Brooklyn, New York on 18th October. It was one of the coldest nights this autumn according reports.

The late rock artist Tom Petty was honoured on his birthday in his hometown of Gainesville, Florida.

The dynamic combination of Calvin Harris & Sam Smith have regained the No: 1 spot on the UK singles chart with the song ‘Promises’. The song lost its prime position to Dave ft.: Fredo’s ‘Funky Friday a week earlier, but bounced back a notch to topple the rap track. The Harris/ Smith duet led by a close gap of 1026 combined sales.

‘Promises’ now counts six non- consecutive weeks at the top of the UK singles chart. While Dave’s ‘Funky Friday’ has got pushed down to the No: 2 spot, it can take comfort counting the most streams of the week with 7.13 million.

Cardi B

While most of the songs on the UK top 10 moved in the declining position, Lady Gaga &Bradley Cooper duet ‘Shallow’ moved up the chart from 6 to No: 4. The ballad is taken from the soundtrack from the film A Star Is Born which both artists. Meanwhile two other songs from the same soundtrack further down the chart.

The only song to debut on the top 10 singles chart this week is ‘Woman Like Me’ by Little Mix.

The reggae fusion track with an urban groove entered the UK chart at No: 5. The song features a rap section by Nicki Minaj. The song is taken from the next Little Mix album ‘LM5’. It’s the 13th top 10 UK hit song for the all-girl quartet.
