STBC discussion on the economy
View(s):An interesting discussion on “Fundamentals of the economy: Are we on the right track?” has been scheduled for the next meeting of the Sunday Times Business Club (STBC).
To be held at the Kingsbury Colombo, the STBC newest host hotel, on Wednesday October 17, panellists at the discussion are State Minister of Finance – Eran Wickramaratne, IPS Executive Director – Dr. Dushni Weerakoon, Chief Economist, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce – Shiran Fernando and renowned economist and academic – Dr. Nimal Sanderatne.
The areas which would be discussed are: “Are we on the path towards fiscal consolidation?”, “What are the strengths and weaknesses of our external finances?”, “Is the country in a foreign debt trap?” and “Are economic policies conducive for economic growth?” Dr. Sanderatne will moderate the discussion. The club is hosted by the Kingsbury while the meeting is open to STBC members and their guests.
