Lankan Teacher Shenika Jayawardena wins Global Teacher Award

Alert Knowledge Services (AKS) Education Awards organised an awards ceremony to appreciate the Teaching sector for the first time in history. The event took place on September 16, in New Delhi, India. Of the 4,600 competitors, 100 teachers representing 28 countries, were selected as finalists, including the only Sri Lankan teacher Mrs Shenika Jayawardena.

Mrs Jayawardena, presently in charge of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) at St. Lawrence’s Convent, Colombo 6, was winner of The Global Teacher Award, in appreciation of her invaluable contribution to the teaching sector. As the ICT teacher at St. Lawrence’s Convent, she is a very supportive teacher who is in charge of many extracurricular activities such as the School Website, ICT Club and the Interact Club.

A past pupil of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo, she is in her 11th year of her teaching career.
