The Peradeniya University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Upul B Dissanayake, said that there should be an audit undertaken on the research done at the University.

He was speaking at the sixth conference of the Sri Lanka-Japan Collaborative Research held at the Post Graduate Institute of Science at the University.

The theme this year was ‘Mitigating Global Issues through Collaborative Partnerships’.

Professor Dissanayake pointed out that an audit would asses the work, amount of research, successes and failures, and how the research affected the university, country and people.

He added that all research should be useful to the community at large.

Co-Chair of the conference, Professor Sugata Takahashi announced the “Liaison between the University of Nigata and the University of Peradeniya.”

Japanese Ambassador, Kenichi Suganuma speaking at the conference, said that collaborative research was the foundation of global intellectual cooperation, where researchers in multi-disciplinary fields in different countries present their respective knowledge and expertise.

The Sri Lanka-Japan Collaborative Research creates an invaluable platform to confirm the latest advancements and would further encourage new collaborative research in the future.
