Liberal International’s Acting Secretary General to deliver Dudley Senanayake Memorial Oration
View(s):The Dudley Senanayake Memorial Oration this year will be delivered by Gordon Mackay, the Acting Secretary General of Liberal International and a former member of the South African Parliament.

The lecture organised by the Dudley Senanayake Foundation and Friedrich Naumann Stiftung will be held on September 14, at 5.15 p.m. at the BCIS Hall of the BMICH.
Gordon Mackay served as a senior member of South Africa’s Shadow Cabinet as Energy Minister.
Mr. Mackay was instrumental in blocking a highly contentious nuclear deal, promoting greater integration of renewables into South Africa’s energy mix and refining policy to adjust to the increasing decentralization of electricity production.
Before entering Parliament, Mr. Mackay worked for UNICEF, New York, in the Office of Emergency Programmes with a specific focus on peace building and recovery in post conflict settings.
The date of the lecture coincides with the 60th anniversary of the worldwide work of Friedrich Naumann Stiftung.
