A treat for foodies as Sri Lanka gets its first Atrium

The term “foodie” has been coined over the growing interest between people and their food. Gone are the days where meals were just eaten. Now food has become an experience and now with the rapid economic development Sri Lanka’s experiencing, it’s ready for something new.

That’s where Food Studio comes in, bringing with it an innovative new concept. Opening July 27 with the grand public opening of the Colombo City Centre Mall on August 3, it will be the first food atrium in Sri Lanka.

But what does the company mean by a food ‘Atrium’? At first glance, Food Studio’s explanation makes it sound exactly like a ‘Food Court’; different outlets serving different food variations or dishes in a large space where dining takes place. But the Food Studio team explains that the idea of a ‘Food Court’ in Sri Lanka is different from what you would experience in Singapore for instance.

Food Studio’s Atrium caters more to the foodie generation who want more out of their dining experience. It will house 15 outlets both local and international, and patrons will be able to choose from authentic Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Sri Lankan, Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine as well as fusion and Western selections. Outlets will keep their offerings fresh and current, changing them based on what patrons want.

The look and feel of the space itself has been specially designed including an all-purpose VIP Business Room and a terrace bar with spectacular views of Colombo.
Food Studio’s second opening will be at Shangri-La’s One Mall in June 2019.
