Nirmalan Thanabalasingam, Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) High Performance Physiotherapist has decided to part ways with his employer just one year and three months into his two year contract, the Sunday Times learns. He had a two-year contract with the SLC.

Cricket sources said that Nirmalan–a highly rated Australian physiotherapist with Sri Lankan roots–was unhappy after the board decided to rotate him for the forthcoming national team’s tour to the Caribbean.

“We have taken a policy decision to rotate the support staff and we expect them to respect board’s decision. He has reportedly told some people that he has resigned but so far we have not been informed,” said Ashley de Silva, SLC CEO.

SLC recently appointed Englishman Paul Khourry as SLC’s Rehabilitation and Training Manager. Ajantha Wattegama, who has performed the duty of the physiotherapist of the national team, will travel with the team to the West Indians.

Meanwhile, SLC sources also confirmed Prof. Arjuna de Silva and Dr. Harindu Wijesingha have resigned from the SLC-appointed Independent Medical Advisory Panel.
