Half tons by Revan Kelly and Nipun Sumanasinghe laid the foundation before the right-arm pace and spin duo Jehan Daniel and Ashen Daniel shared eight wickets to help St. Joseph’s to record a convincing 87-run win over traditional rivals St. Peter’s in their 44th Battle of the Saints limited over encounter played at the SSC ground yesterday.

The morning session of proceedings saw St. Joseph’s taking first lease of the wicket, losing their first wicket on 24. This was followed by a valuable 90-run stand for the second wicket between Revan who made a 59 and Nipun (53) helping them to post a formidable score of 259.

St. Peter’s in their run chase was making steady progress but lost wickets at regular intervals as Jehan who ended with impressive figures of 4 for 21 and Ashen (4 for 32) combined to bowl them out for a score of 172. This was St. Joseph’s  22nd win of the series as against to 20 by St. Peter’s.
