Captains of the confirmed teams that will participate in the President's Cup Invitational Schools Football Tournament, at the launching ceremony

The President’s Cup Inter-Schools Invitation Football Tournament will be held at the Race Course ground and the City League ground, Colombo from February 25 to March 11.

The contest is organised by the Group of 80s Hameed Al Hussienie College, Colombo for the eleventh successive year.

The Oxford Group is the sponsors of the tournament.

25 teams have been invited. Up to Friday 20 teams had confirmed participation.

The schools who have confirmed participation are: Ananda College Colombo, De Mazenod College Kandana, Hindu College Colombo, St. Benedict’s College Kotahena, Al Mubarak Central College Malwana, Hameed Al Hussienie College Colombo, Lumbini College Colombo, Thurstan College Colombo, Isipathana College Colombo, Zahira College Gampola, Kalutara Muslim MV Kalutara, Zahira College Colombo, St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya, D.S. Senanayake College Colombo, Gateway International Colombo, Badriya Central Mawanella, T.B. Jayah Zahira College Colombo and Wesley College Colombo.

The schools which have not confirmed are: St. Patrick’s College Jaffna, S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia, Kinniya Central College Trincomalee and Royal College Colombo.

There are 21 matches in the competition. The opening matches will be on February 25 at the Race Course ground. The pre-quarters and quarter-finals will be at the City League ground Slave Island from February 27 to March 1.

The semi-finals will be on March 4 and finals on March 11 at the Race Course ground.

These will be five special awards other than the champion, runner-up and third place. The Most Valuable Player of each match tournament. The Golden Glove to the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Golden Boot to the Highest Scorer of the Tournament, the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament and Fairplay Team.

The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament will also receive a return air ticket to Malaysia.

The defending champions are Hameed Al Hussienie College, Colombo. They have won the tournament the most number of times.
