Enrique Iglesias has taken legal action in the US to recover streaming royalties. His lawyers filed action in Miami, Florida on 24th January against his former recording label Universal records. The 42-year-old who is widely called the “King of Latin Pop” has sold over 159 million albums around the world. When he signed with Universal in 1999 there were no streaming services, but his subsequent agreement did apparently cover such provisions. Iglesias whose hits include ‘Bailamos’, ‘Hero’ and ‘Subemela La Radio’ last year claims he has only been paid a fraction of his streaming royalties costing him millions in losses.

The year 2018 has finally got hold of the UK singles chart as Canadian pop star Drake has taken the No: 1 spot with his song ‘God’s Plan’. The track debuted straight at the top of the chart a week after its release ousting Eminem’s ‘River’ featuring Ed Sheeran. Drake’s trap track is one of two songs released from his EP ‘Scary Hours’. The other song ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ is at No: 21 on the UK singles chart. ‘God’s Plan’ competed hard against ‘Barking’ by Ramz. Drake’s song won while Ramz had to remain at the No: 2 spot for another week. ‘God’s Plan’ is the second chart topping hit for the 31-year-old singer song writer and rap artist where he takes the lead role. His first No: 1 hit was ‘One Dance’ featuring Wizkid and Kyla in 2016. He was the featured artist on Rihanna’s No: 1 ‘What’s My Name’ in 2010.

Drake has co-written his current hit with Ronald La Tour, Daveon Jackson, Matthew Samuels and Noah Shebib.

Dua Lipa has scored her second UK top 10 hit with ‘IDGAF’ which advanced on to the top 10 from 14 to 4. The track is a follow up to her chart topping song of 2017 ‘New Rules’. The new hit is taken from the 21-year-old artiste’s self-titled debut album. ‘IDGAF’ by the way stands for I Don’t Give A F***’.
