Unbeaten Renown keep matching forward

Unconquered Renown SC took a step closer to their desired goal when they beat Solid SC, Anuradhapura by 3 goals to 2 goals in their Dialog Champions League Football Tournament match played at the Kelaniya Football Complex, yesterday.

At half time the lads from Anuradhapura led at 1-0.

In the first half the scoring was done by A. Amaradasa who beat the Renown Defence in the tenth minute.

But two goals by M.C.M. Rifnaz and Job Michael in the 47 and 48 minutes respectively brought Renown into the lead. However in the 60th minute S. Judesuvan scored again for Solid to equal the score at 2 all. However in the 78th minute Rifnaz booted his second goal for the day to keep Renown’s aspirations alive.

So far Renown—the table leaders have played 15 matches and won 12 and drawn three and have accumulated a total of 39 points.  During the next two weeks, they are down play Air Force and Colombo FC to complete their tally of games.

In the other games which were played yesterday Crystal Palace beat Moragasmulla FC 5-2 at Moragasmulla, Blue Star beat Navy FC 1-0 at Kalutara, Negombo Youth beat Java Lane 2-0 at City League Grounds while New Youngs held Colombo FC 0-0 at Wennappuwa and Matara City held Super Sun 1 all Matara.

Today’s matches are: Army vs Air Force at City League, Police vs Up Country Lions at Police Park, Saunders vs Pelicans at Kelaniya.
