The tenth week results of the Dialog 4G-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy / Schoolgirl Cricketer of the Year 2018 competition comes out this week with a fleet of exciting news. But no one from the All-Island Schools segment has been able to challenge Dellon Peiris, the S. Thomas’ College leg spinner, so far.

He pompously tops the list for yet another week with an unassailable lead as his tally reaches 8156 combined votes, after adding 1910 last week. Dellon leads Sachin Silva of St. Peter’s College by 4294 votes, which is a wholesome deficit at this juncture of the contest. Sachin’s tally moves up to 3862 with an addition of 1065 combined votes.

At third is Ananda College skipper Asel Sigera, with 1572 votes, ahead of Lumbini College’s Kavin Bandara, who has 1242 to his name.

As Dulaj Bandara of Dharmaraja College sits at fifth place with 741 votes, Vihan Gunasekara of D.S. Senanayake College debuts at sixth position with 664 straight online votes. This move pushes Thomian Kalana Perera and Benedictine Mahesh Theekshana to seventh and eighth positions respectively as Dinidu Wijewardene of Nalanda College joins in the fray with 193 digital votes at ninth position, as the number of contenders in the All-Island Schools reach 21.

As predicted last week, Denuwan Perera of Carey College climbed to the top of the Emerging Schools category, where many changes have taken place within a matter of days, Denuwan gradually moved to second from fourth last week, and took further control by adding 1412 votes, which took his tally to 2721. He leads former leader Sonara Karunathunga of Ananda Sastralaya by 731 and looks set to continue his dominance. Sonara, who dropped into second place, added 449 votes and is with a total of 1990 votes while Kenula Gunarathne of St. Aloysius College, Ratnapura too made his intentions clear by moving up a place to third. Kenula added 474 votes, taking his total to 1341, and could turn out to be that dark horse of the clash. As a result Thimira Malshan, Sonara’s team mate, moved another slot down to fourth while Heshan Madushanka of Piliyandala Central makes his first appearance at fifth position with an impressive 634 combined votes.

Harshitha Samarawickrama of Anula Vidyalaya, continues to lead the Girls’ Category, maintaining her lead with a healthy count of 2775. She added 1290 to her last week’s tally of 1485 and further expanded the deficit against Pabasara Ranabahu by 1227. Pabasara, of Rathnavali Girls’ School, Gampaha, added 770 to her tally, which now reads as 1548. Kaveesha Dilhani of Devapathiraja MV, Rathgama and Ruwini Nandasena of St. Joseph’s Girls School are the other two contenders in the list.
