Overcoming their initial setback CH&FC, regrouped to overcome a spirited Air Force outfit by 43-31 in a first round match of the Dialog Rugby League Championship played at Ratmalana yesterday. The club from Maitland Crescent continued their good form gained two weekends ago, while recording their second win in the season in six games.

CH were in the backseat until 10 minutes before halftime, but took the upper hand from there to win an important game with a tally of six tries, five conversions and a penalty. The Airmen were in the assault tit-for-tat with CH, but had to end up in the losing end with a tally of three tries, two conversions and four penalties.

CH mainly drove on the backs of their ace kicker Samuel Maduwantha, who contributed with 13 points after putting over five conversions and a penalty, and third row forward Yoshitha Rajapaksa touched down twice while centre Avantha Lee, scrum half Avishka Lee, winger Hashan Maduranga and prop Ravin Yapa braced a try each. For the losing hosts centre Charitha Seneviratne was the star. His input for the team was with 18 points which came off a try, three penalties and two conversions.
