Nihon-den Gojuryu Karate Do Koushikai win 4 medals in Japan

Three athletes impressed at the Nihon-den Gojuryu Karate Do Koushikai and earned Sri Lanka four medals, including two gold medals in a Karate Championship held in Japan on October 15.

H.D. Thushan Bawantha won two silver medals in the Kata and Kumite disciplines while Matheesha Govinna and P. Christ Kevin pocketed gold medals for excellent performance in their events.

Chief instructor Clint Williams was proud about his students’ achievements and was extremely overwhelmed that he and his students got the opportunity to put Sri Lanka on top in Japan. His intention is to expand his Association and give his students the much needed international exposure. Shibucho (President/Chief) Clint William’s wife Sensei Yolanda Williams was awarded with two Dan by Kaicho (Chairman), Toshimasa Nishi. The students also got an opportunity to practice three days with Honbu Dojo (Head office) students, university students and moreover were able to build up skills and camaraderie. Shibucho Clint Williams was pleased that his students earned a huge opportunity to showpiece their talent and compete and participate along with Japanese athletes and experience the hospitality of Koushikai main body’s and the people of Japan. Williams spoke in high praise for Kaicho Toshimasa Nishi, students and parents who supported to make their tour a success.
