Meanwhile the Meteorology Department said the prevailing rainy and cloudy conditions will continue with strong winds and rough seas in the next few days.

Showers and thunder showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and Southern provinces.

The Department has also warned that temporary localised strong winds could occur along with thunder showers in some areas.Heavy rains of upto 100 to 150mm are expected in Sabaragamuwa, Kalutara, Galle and Matara.

The Department spokesman said that the current rainy weather is due to low level atmospheric disturbance especially in the north- eastern sea area and as well as in the Bay of Bengal.

Therefore heavy showers as well as increased wind-speeds to 50-60 KMPH are expected in the North, north east and east of the country. Thunder showers are also expected in Trincomalee, Matara, Kanakasanturai Mannar and Colombo.
