SAITM protest campaign hits Puttalam Education sector
View(s):The islandwide SAITM , as Teachers stayed away from schools on Sept.21, while others submitted sick notes as an excuse. The protest spread to Govt. institutions and hospitals. As most schools were crippled the students returned home. However, some veteran Teachers were seen reporting to school as a matter of principle, at the call of their profession. Parents sized the situation in advance and collected their children early. However, some children were left alone waiting for parents. The average attendance in schools indicated the protest had effected the junior sections, while in higher classes the attendance was high.
