India’s National Book Trust at Colombo International Book Fair

Among the participants at the Colombo International Book Fair (CIBF) is the National Book Trust (NBT) of India, an apex body established by the Dept of Higher Education of the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India, with the objective of promoting the production of good Literature in English, Hindi and other Indian Languages.

“This time the NBT had brought more than 180 book titles, most of which sold out fairly early, due to their extremely reasonable prices,” said NBT Regional Manager S.R.Veenesh at the CIBF. The NBT makes Literature available to the public at moderate prices and also publishes book catalogues, organises Book fairs/exhibitions and seminars, and takes measures to make the people ‘Book Minded’.

The NBT organises the annual New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), the largest Book Event in the Afro-Asian Region, which is slated to be held from January 6-14, 2018. The theme of the Fair is “Environment & Climate Change” Mr Veenesh said the NBT is also promoting the NDWBF, and expects many Sri Lankan Book publishers to participate.
