‘Sahithya Sankathana’ Literary Arts Festival organized by the Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka, was held for the second consecutive year on Sept.14-15, at the University premises in Pitipana, Homagama.

Most Venerable Senior Professor Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera offers “Vijinipatha” to the Most Venerable Professor Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera

The inauguration ceremony held on Sept.14, was chaired by the University’s present Vice Chancellor (VC) Most Ven Senior Prof Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera, in the presence of 4 former VCs of the University, Most Ven Prof Kumburupitiye Vajira Thera, Most Ven Dr Akuratiye Nanda Thera, Most Ven Chair Prof Wegama Piyarathana Thera and Most Ven Senior Prof Iththademaliye Indasara Thera. who were appreciated and paid gratitude by offering “Vijinipatha”, for the immense service they had rendered to the Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka.

The undergraduates of 8 Depts launched 8 journals namely, “Journal of Pali” by the Dept of Pali, “Nuwanesa” by the Dept of Sinhala, “Bhashaprabha” by the Dept of Sanskrit, “Aurora” by the Dept of English, “Glamour 2017” by the Dept of Language Skills Development, “Mimesisara” by the Dept of Buddhist Philosophy, “Vibhudha Lekha” by the Dept of Buddhist Culture and “Samaya adyana shaastriya sangrahaya” by the Dept of Religious Studies & Comparative Philosophy. The University’s Academia also published 11 refereed journals.

Many Academia including Ven Dr Pitigala Vijitha Thera, Ven Dr Moragollagama Uparathana Thera, Sasni Amarasekara and Chandrani Munasinghe also launched their unpublished books at “Sahithya Sankathana.” The Literary Arts Festival of the Buddhist & Pali University is organized concurrent to the National Literary Festival.
