Colombo International Book Fair 2017 at the BMICH

The Colombo International Book Fair 2017, organised by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association, was declared open on Friday (15), at the BMICH, and will continue till September 24, open from  9 am-9 pm daily. It hosts 300-400 local and foreign Book stalls.  Pix by Indika Handuwala.

‘Subhaga’ Scholarship deadline extended to September 22: MoE

The Govt, last year, in a non-formal Education programme, identified and educated 2,898 school dropouts and children not attending school due to poverty.  This includes 254 street children. ‘Learning Promotion Grant’ for student monks: Govt.

The Govt have decided to provide a ‘learning promotion grant’ for student monks in pirivena institutions, officials said. The government is to provide the bursary to cover education related expenses of monk students, on a proposal by Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam to the Cabinet.
