The Ministry of Education (MoE) will put into effect ‘Smart Classrooms’ in 65 National schools before year end.
“Accordingly, 2 classrooms in each school, between Grades 6 & 10, will have Tabs and IT facilities to teach Maths, Science and English,” said Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

He said a team has already gone to Australia to have further studies on the techniques as well as to assess the requirements.
“Teachers will be able to monitor students’ performances online, in contrast to the traditional system where teachers were able to ascertain the performance only after its completion,” he added.

Minister Kariyawasam said he intends to expand the project to 150 more schools next year. “We can expand the facilities and the number of schools, if we have donor assistance,” he said. - DW
