“SAVIYA-Apen obata, Oben hetata”: Team Fusion’s Library for Payagala rural school
View(s):Team Fusion, a 20-member group of 1st-year undergraduates of the Faculty of Management & Finance of the University of Colombo (UoC), will set up a Library for Malegoda Junior School in Payagala, which is 130-years-old. The project is titled “SAVIYA – Apen obata, Oben hetata”
Malegoda Junior School, with very little basic facilities, provides education from Grade 1 to GCE Ordinary Level, for approximately 75 students. Team Fusion believes that, with resources provided at the Library, it would encourage students to learn and gain knowledge through self-study, improve vocabulary, motivate to use their imagination and be creative and improve their skills by reading, interacting with peers and teachers.
The project is estimated to cost around Rs 300,000, for which the team is currently raising funds through various activities and events and is on the lookout for generous donors. They appeal that any form of donation towards this worthy cause will be deeply appreciated.
This Community Development Project identifies and addresses relevant social issues within different communities, for the betterment of Society. In the past, their projects focused on renovating and constructing buildings for schools, elders homes, children’s homes and orphanages, and also houses for homeless people.
