National Youth Drama Festival on

The 38th National Youth Drama Festival is now being staged at Tower Hall theatre, Maradana daily at 6.30 pm. Having started on August 29, the festival would continue till September 8.

Organised by the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, National Youth Services Council and Sri Lanka Federation of Youth Clubs, the festival will feature both long and short plays and theatrical productions in Sinhala and Tamil languages.

The festival kicked off with Jehan Sri Kantha Appuhamy’s ‘Sukara Asapuwa’ on August 29. Among the rest of the plays Indika Sandaruwan’s “Pudgalikai Rahasigathai’ and Namal Bandara’s ‘Geheniya’ both short plays will be staged today, September 3.

Vindaya Methali’s long play ’12 Angry Women’ on September 4, three short plays Damith Ratnayake’s ‘Pemiillak Damuda’, P. Prakash’s ‘Ellathavarkal’ and Suresh Madhushan’s ‘Swarga Raajjya’ on Sept 6, long play Ushan Perera’s ‘Maya Bandhana’on Sept 7 and Akila Sapumal’s ‘Girikutha Kashyapa’ on Sept 8 will be staged.
